Classwork for Fri. 04/03, no new homework

posted by Mrs. Lefebvre

We always have a spot in our backyard that turns into a pond when we get a lot of rain!  (And you can see where the deer have eaten my arborvitaes!

Good morning!  Happy Flex Friday!

That was a lot of rain last night!  I heard that some homes in South Portland lost power.  Hopefully it comes back soon!

Today we are starting Flex Fridays.  No new assignments are given on Flex Fridays, which means you can use this time to catch up on missing work (either in JumpRope or Google Classroom) or to have some fun with math, such as playing sumdog or prodigy.

My office hours today are from 9:00am until 11:00am.  My google meet will run  from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.  Please use MrsLefebvre as your meet code.

Here are my office hours and google meet times for next week.  I'll be mixing it up a little bit with having open meet times every day, but having a special math meet for one period each day.  Monday will be Period 1, Tuesday is Period 3, Wednesday is Period 4 and Thursday will be Period 6.

Monday - Friday:
Office Hours: 9:00 am - 11:00am
Open Meet: 9:30am - 10:00 am

Monday - Period 1 Google Meet: 10:00 - 10:30am
Tuesday - Period 3 Google Meet: 10:00 - 10:30am
Wednesday - Period 4 Google Meet: 10:00 - 10:30am
Thursday - Period 6 Google Meet: 10:00 - 10:30am

As always, please feel free to email me with any questions.

Have a great day!

I was able to go on a nice long walk with Laura and Lucy yesterday.  I hope you have been finding time to get outside and be active!

Good morning!  Happy Thursday!

Did you play any good April fool's tricks yesterday?   Did you get fooled by anyone?   A student convinced me that a big, hairy spider was crawling on the wall behind me during my google meet - and I completely believed them!

Today will be the last new assignment for the week.  Tomorrow we will be starting Flex Fridays.  No new assignments are given on Flex Fridays, which means you can use tomorrow to catch up on missing work or to have some fun with math, such as playing sumdog or prodigy.

Today you will start to add decimals visually.  You need to watch two Khan Academy videos and complete one Khan Academy practice and two IXL practice.  Please turn in all work in Google Classroom with screen shots of your scores for Khan and IXL.

My office hours today are from 9:00am until 11:00am.  My google meet will run  from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.  Please use MrsLefebvre as your meet code.

As always, please email me with any questions.

Have a great day!

Today is Shawmut's birthday!!  He is 11 years old, which is about 60 human years...

Good morning!  Happy Wednesday and Happy April!

I have to admit, it is a little bit of a relief that we are not in school on April 1st.   I wonder what tricks you all would have thought up...   :-)

Today I will have office hours from 9:00am until 11:00am, which means that during that time I am available for questions.  However, I will only run the google meet from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.  Please use MrsLefebvre as your meet code.

Today you will start our work with decimals by looking at decimal place values and expressing decimals in words.  You need to watch two videos and complete two Khan Academy practices and one IXL practice.  Please turn in all work in Google Classroom.

As always, please email me with any questions - especially if you are stuck on something.  A quick email or google meet should easily clear up any confusion.

Have a great day!

What are you doing to relax?  My daughter loves puzzles.  Especially StarWars puzzles!

Good morning!  Happy Tuesday!

We had a good day two of Google Classroom learning.  Please remember to attach a screenshot showing your score before you turn in your work.  I will add a score to your assignment and return it to you when I'm done.  As long as you have a grade, you do not need to resubmit it to me.

Also, you should have noticed that I deleted the long term Khan Academy assignments.  You no longer have those assignments that were due on April 7th and May 7th.

For now, I am continuing to both update my website and use google classroom.  However, I am removing the assignment links from my website to encourage you to go into google classroom to complete the assignment.

I'm mixing up my google meet time again.  Today I will have office hours from 9:00am until 11:00am, which means that during that time I am available for questions.  However, I will only run the google meet from 10:00am to 11:00am.  Please use MrsLefebvre as your meet code.

Were you able to get outside this weekend?  I went for a run and a bike ride!   I saw these flowers in my lawn on Saturday afternoon - a sure sign that spring is here!

Good morning!  Happy Monday!

On to our third week of distance learning - you are all doing awesome!   Thank you to all the students that joined my google classroom.  Please join if you are one of the few that have not yet.

Thank you also to all of you that turned in your google classroom assignment from Friday.  I know this is a new process, but you are really doing well adapting to it.   Today there will be only one google classroom assignment that you will attach both your Khan Academy and IXL screen shots to.  For Khan, you can take a screen shot right after you finish a topic and the score summary comes up or you can take a screenshot of the assignment page with your scores.  For IXL you can take a screen shot of the page where you do your with a score that is 80 or higher or you can you screen shot the page with all of the topics with your score next to the assigned topic.  It does not matter to me which you choose.

It has been difficult for a lot of you to get to a google meet by 9:00am.   I am going to move my meet time to be from 10:00 am until noon.  It will be a regular "drop in" time where you can stop by and ask questions or chat.  You can use the same link that we have been using.

Today you will be working on dividing  fractions by fractions.  You need to watch three videos and complete one Khan Academy practice and one IXL practice.  Please turn in all work in Google Classroom.

As always, please email me with any questions.

Have a great day!

I just finished this book that I borrowed from Mrs. Gurnee.   I really enjoyed it!  What are you reading?

Good morning! Happy Friday!

We finished our first full week of remote learning!  I am so proud of all the work that you have been doing!

I have received a few questions about the Khan Academy topics that were due before all of this distance learning started.   I split the Khan Academy topics into two halves.  The first half is for the lessons that we covered and is due on Tuesday, April 7th.   The second half is on the lessons that we haven't covered yet.  I would have deleted the assignments for the second half, but I didn't want to lose the work that students have already done, so I have moved those to be due Thursday, May 7th.  Please don't worry about finishing the assignments from the second half.  We will start new learning at some point and will be able to finish those topics by then.

You probably also noticed that you received a Google Classroom invitation from me.   Since it seems like we will be doing this "distance learning" thing for a while, I thought that google classroom would make things a bit easier.   I will still make website posts for now, but I will also make assignments in gooogle classroom.  YOU WILL NEED TO TURN IN YOUR GOOGLE CLASSROOM ASSIGNMENTS.  You will need to attach a screen shot for each completed Khan and IXL topic.  Please see the classroom for more information.

My google meet today will be a regular drop in. I will be in my "office" from 9am -11am. You can use the same link that we have been using.

Today you will be working on dividing unit fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by unit fractions.  The IXL topic switches between the both, so be sure to pay attention!

As always, please email me with any questions.

Have a great day!

-- Mrs. Lefebvre

This was yesterday's beautiful sunrise from my front porch!

Good morning! Happy Thursday!

It was fun doing the class Quizizzes (is that is a word?!?) during the class hangouts yesterday! We will have to try that again next week. And I heard the message loud and clear from Period 1 that 9:00am is pretty early and they don't always want to be first, so next time we do it I will rotate the period times.

My google meet today will be a regular drop in. I will be in my "office" from 9am -11am. You can use the same link that we have been using.

Today you will be working on understanding that fractions are division problems.  For the IXL, you do need to write your answer as a mixed number!  For the IXL practice, I recommend drawing pictures so that you know what is being divided by what.

As always, please email me with any questions.

Have a great day!

I made my snowman with this cool website that Dakota shared with me yesterday!

Good morning! Happy Wednesday!

The snow was so pretty yesterday. I did take Lucy for a walk at lunchtime before all of the snow melted.

Today you will be working on multiplying mixed numbers. You can use a calculator to multiply the larger numbers. But you also use the method in the video to simplify the multiplication problem by dividing the numerator and denominator by the same number. For all of the assignments, it is ok to leave your answer as an improper fraction.

Unfortunately, student emails were down all morning yesterday, so that messed up our class google meets.  I would like to try it again today. I'll see if there are any whole class questions and then we can do a whole class quizizz!  I hope to see you there!

Yay!!! It snowed!! You all know how much I love snow! I hope I get a chance to get out and play in it before it all melts.
